1. Air/vapor barrier are now continuous and uninterrupted, virtually eliminating the infiltration and exfiltration of untreated air through the wall cavity.
2. The air/vapor barrier creates a pressure equalized air cavity within the wall. Without a pressure differential, water WILL NOT enter the wall cavity. The air/vapor barrier also eliminates the four way joint in the system, thereby eliminating the most common cause of wall system failures.
3. Now that the insulation is moved outside the air/vapor barrier, the Dew Point is moved outside the structural wall. When condensation forms, since the joints are open, the stack effect will move air up the cavity, drying the insulation and allowing it to escape into the environment, resulting in elimination of mold and mildew and no corrosion of the studs.
4. Since the joints are open and there are no gaskets or exposed sealants, the system will be maintenance free and last for 80 to 100 years, even with steel stud construction.
